Research

Part of my research interests are:

  • Querying big textual/semantic data
  • Parallel query processing using a cluster computing platform
  • Point of interest recommendation
  • Cost Based Query Optimization
  • Large Scale Transaction Routing
  • Heterogeneous Distributed Databases

I am involved in the projects: Mastodons, ANR EPIQUE, SemGraph, …

List of publications (CV on HAL)

See also DBLP.

I'm part of the EDBT 2020 Demonstration track program committee.

See our paper at BigGraphs2019 in conjunction with IEEE BigData. Our recent EGC 2018 paper about a hierarchical geographical factorization model for POI recommendation is nominated (with 4 other papers) for the best applied research paper.

Currently, I am co-advising the following PhD candidate:

  • 2018-now. Ke Li. Large-scale Topic Extraction and Alignment for Large Scientific Document Repositories.

Projet proposals for M1 students (PLDAC): PLDAC 2018 Epique, PLDAC 2018 Sparql. M2 students may look at internships and PhD proposals.

Previously, I advised :

  • 2015-2017. Jean-Benoît Griesner. Models for Point of Interest Recommendation. Currently at Qwant R&D.
  • 2013-2016. Ibrahima Gueye. Database transactions over a cloud. Current position: Associate Professor at EPT, Thies, Senegal.
  • 2012-2015. Ndiouma Bame. Distributed query processing for biodiversity databases. Current position: Associate Professor at UCAD University, Dakar, Senegal.
  • 2012-2014. Modou Gueye. Large scale recommender systems. Current position: Associate Professor at UCAD University, Dakar, Senegal.
  • 2007-2010. Idrissa Sarr. Routing database transactions at large scale. Current position: Associate Professor at UCAD University, Dakar, Senegal.

I was co-chair of the ASONAM PhD Forum and Posters Track 2015.

I was involved in the following projects: Respire, Roses

Teaching

I mainly teach courses about databases, in french:

  • L2 BD Introduction to databases (2I009).
  • L3 BD Relational databases (3I009)
  • M1 BDR: Database systems, distributed databases
  • M1 MLBDA: Advanced data models and query languages
  • M2 BDLE : Large scale databases (part of Master DAC)
